INSIGHT Nervous System Scans

Objective Measurement of Your Nervous System
Imagine your nervous system as the body's command centre, sending messages that control every function from movement and digestion to immunity and mood. To ensure it's working optimally, Dr. Ben uses a suite of advanced tools called INSIGHT Scans. These scans provide a detailed window into how well your nervous system is functioning and form the foundation of a truly personalized care plan.
Unlike X-rays which show structure, INSIGHT Scans measure function, specifically the quality of communication between your nervous system and the rest of your body. This is especially valuable for children and patients who may not be able to clearly describe their symptoms.
Heart Rate Variability (HRV)
HRV measures the tiny differences in time between your heartbeats. A healthy, adaptable heart rate pattern indicates a nervous system that can shift smoothly between its two branches: the sympathetic ("fight-or-flight") system and the parasympathetic ("rest-and-digest") system.
When the nervous system is stuck in a chronic stress state, HRV decreases. Low HRV is associated with poor sleep, fatigue, difficulty focusing, and reduced immunity. Regular Chiropractic care has been shown to consistently improve HRV scores, an objective marker of nervous system health that we track throughout your care.
Thermal Scanning
The thermal scan maps temperature along both sides of the spine. When nerves are functioning properly, both sides of the spine should be symmetrical in temperature. Asymmetry indicates areas of nerve interference, altered circulation, and tissue dysfunction.
Thermal scanning is sensitive enough to detect nervous system dysfunction before pain or other symptoms develop, making it a valuable early-warning tool for the whole family.
Surface Electromyography (sEMG)
sEMG measures the electrical activity of the paraspinal muscles, the muscles that run along either side of the spine and are directly controlled by the nervous system. Areas of subluxation and nerve interference show up as uneven or elevated muscle activity patterns.
By identifying these muscle imbalances, Dr. Ben can pinpoint exactly which spinal segments need the most attention, and then demonstrate objectively at re-examination that those patterns have improved under Chiropractic care.
Tracking Your Progress
One of the most powerful aspects of INSIGHT Scans is their ability to track progress over time. Rather than relying solely on how you feel, which can be influenced by many variables, we use objective scan data to show you exactly how your nervous system is changing. Most patients find seeing their scan improvements deeply motivating and affirming that care is working.
What to Expect
First Visit
A comprehensive health history, nervous system assessment, and spinal examination. We may take digital X-rays or run Insight Scans to fully understand your health picture.
Your Report
We walk you through your findings in plain language, share your personalized care plan, and answer all your questions before care begins.
Ongoing Care
Focused, efficient visits with regular progress re-assessments. As your body heals, visit frequency reduces and we shift toward long-term wellness maintenance.
